Venezia/Marghera/Mestre e ritorno. Un viaggio quotidiano

Racconto di un viaggio speciale, compiuto quotidianamente da un gran numero di persone: quello tra Venezia e la terraferma e/o viceversa.è un tragitto rapido che, attraversando luoghi di confine, riassume inteticamente la complessità del territorio, diviso tra città storica, acquatica, e città contemporanea, fatta del dualismo di Mestre e Marghera. Nell’arco di pochi minuti l’occhio raccoglie un’incredibile eterogeneità di frammenti, segnali, paesaggi, indizi di una ricchezza inestimabile, di profonde contraddizioni ed anche di luoghi relegati indebitamente al margine.

Giovanni Vio (Mestre, 1964) vive a Venezia dove lavora come architetto. Svolge attività didattica alla Facoltà di Architettura, università iuav di Venezia, e ricerche nel campo dell’arte. In fotografia la sua indagine, influenzata dai risvolti che offre anche in campo urbanistico, è rivolta all’atto del percorrere lo spazio fisico, dall’abituale azione della persona nell’ambito domestico all’attraversamento del territorio. Il movimento nello spazio è prima forma di appropriazione del luogo, di espressione di identità. Il racconto di questa esperienza è qui presentato.

This is the story of a special journey, taken daily by a large number of people: the journey from Venice to the mainland and back. It is a quick trip that, as it traverses border territory, succinctly sums up the complexity of the area that is divided between the historic, aquatic city and the contemporary one, comprising the dualism of Mestre and Marghera. In the space of a few minutes, your eyes take in an incredible heterogeneity of fragments, signals, and landscapes; clues of inestimable wealth, of great contradictions and also of places unduly relegated to the sidelines.

Giovanni Vio (Mestre, 1964) lives in Venice, where he works as an architect. He teaches at the Faculty of Architecture, at the IUAV in Venice, and works in the field of arts: photography, painting and stained glass. His photographic research, influenced by aspects that it also presents in the field of urbanism, focuses on the act of covering physical space, on the routine actions of people in the domestic field and the crossing of territory. Movement in space is primarily a form of appropriating a place, of expressing one’s identity. The account of this experience is presented here.
