Founded in 1961 and part of the RCS Group since 2000, Marsilio has always been noted for its intense publishing activity, divided into five major sections: contemporary Italian and foreign fiction, classics in the Letteratura Universale series, non-fiction, illustrated books and art catalogues, and the pocket book series.
In 2005 Marsilio buys the Turin based publisher Testo & Immagine, and in 2009 it buys Log607, a publishing house specialized in the production of multi-media publications. In 2010 Marsilio has bought from RCS the brand and the back list titles of Sonzogno Editori.
Fifty years after its foundation, Marsilio has published over 6,000 titles, 2,500 of which are still present in its list of books. Each year it publishes about 250 front list titles.
