Milan. The Great Transformation

Milan. The Great Transformation In order to retrace and interpret the evolution in urban transformations, it is always important to relate cities like Milan to their historical and economic contexts. This book intends to offer a rigorous and well documented understanding of the urban  development of Milan in the city of today, through the evolution of its urban fabric and the analysis of its morphologic aspects on one side and the interpretation of projects and aerial photos on the order. References to single buildings or to complexes of buildings, which are significant for the history of Milan town planning (past and recent), will also recall the main changes in Milan in the last two centuries.

Corinna Morandi was born in Milan where she lives and lectures in Town Planning at the Politecnico of Milan. She has published a number of books and essays on the urban planning of Milan, including: Urbanistica a Milano 1945-1980 (Edizioni delle Autonomie, 1980) Milano contemporanea (Designers Riuniti, 1986), "Il movimento di studi per l'architettura", (Laterza, 1995) and essays in the edited volumes Milano, in the series "Le guide d'Italia" (Touring Club Italiano, 1984) and Storia di Milano, Istituto della Enciclopedia Italiana Treccani (1995).
