The essays collected in this volume result from the conference "Gli studi anatomici di Leonardo" organized and hosted by the Kunsthistorisches Institut/ Max-Planck-Institut in Florence in 2008. The attempt is to give voice to various scientific approaches dealing with Leonardo da Vinci's complex anatomical world: from the most internal and medical to the most philological and linguistic, from the analyses most strictly concerned with art history and visual culture to issues of the history of science alert to the historical context and sources.
